Jiu-Jitsu in Flagstaff

Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art that was developed for combat by the Samurai during the feudal era of Japan. Since then, Jiu -itsu has expanded all over the world. It was further evolved in Brazil, which put an emphasis on the ground techniques, leveraging and being able to hold and subdue a person. Jiu Jitsu in modern times is one of the top martial arts that is studied for self defense, sport, and even used by some of the top MMA fighters in the world.

At Southside, we offer a safe environment and training style that is open to any age and skill level; anybody can learn. There’s no rush! Anybody can do it, everyone can learn. Though for those that want to do more, we emphasize a higher level of training that involves cardio and intense sparring (rolling). Anyone can do it!!

Once you start Jiu-Jitsu, it’s like gaining a super power that only few people have. It’s a language that everyone can speak, but few decide to do. It’s a workout, an understanding between people, an action to escape reality. An individual journey on a crowded road. It’s a lifestyle.

With a membership, you will gain daily access Monday - Friday for 90 min sessions.

Meet Coach Brandon

I started training Judo at an academy called Combative Sports Center while living in Kansas. I watched many Jiu Jitsu classes and thought I should try it out. After getting beat up by someone 50 pounds lighter than me, I knew this was the art I had to be in.

With the thought of wanting to do more with the art, I moved back home to Arizona where I trained in various places, competing in several national tournaments, shows like F2W and many other prospects. Currently I am a brown belt under the IBJJF system, under ONE-Jiu-Jitsu under professor Givanildo Santana do Nascimento.

As an active competitor myself, I encourage all students to try to do at least one tournament, though it’s not required at all to be successful in Jiu-Jitsu.
